It’s pretty rock ‘n’ roll to have a drink named after you.
Athens breakthrough band Alabama Shakes have joined the likes of pro golfer John Daly, Scottish outlaw hero Rob Roy MacGregor, 15th century painter Giovanni Bellini and chameleon-like pop-singer David Bowie.
In honor the last week’s RottleRock Napa music festival, Rutherford, Calif. restaurant and spa resort Auberge du Soleil rolled out a cocktail menu honoring bands performing at the fest. Including Alabama Shakes.
Other artists Auberge du Soleil named a drink for include psychedelic rockers The Flaming Lips (Ingredients for the Lips libation: Kettle One vodka, lime juice, sugar, VeeV Acai, Riesling and jalapeno peppers slices.)
Below is the recipe for an Alabama Shakes. (The group’s appellation always sounded like some sort of booze reference anyway, right?) Please note: the Shakes cocktail is to be – as cinema spy James Bond would say – shaken not stirred.
1 ounce Bacardi Coconut Rum
1 ounce Southern Comfort
1 ounce pineapple juice
1 ounce Pomm pomegranate juice
Combine ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake powerfully; strain into an ice-filled glass. Garnish with orange peel.
