FOOD: Healthy Eggs and Chips (Hangover Recipe)

We’ve all been there.  The liquid courage goes down so well the night before, but rages through your veins the morning after.  Dehydrated pounding of the skull with the stomach of an ant, we all know the risks, but care not until lying in a pool of sweat the next day.  What you eat next may be the most important meal of your life.  We here at have learned from years of experience that you CANNOT fuck around with this, especially as you hit your 40s.  Even our podcast guest this week, Kyle Davis of Against The Grain, hasn’t fully grasped the utter importance of this recovery meal.  So, on occasion, we will do our part for humanity, and search out the best, tried and true hangover recipes.  We understand that these meals should never be too difficult to create, as those in need of these recovery meals haven’t the wherewithal to wield the culinary sword when in this state.  So, here’s a pretty damn easy one for ya.  We’re talking to you Kyle. – FATS

Healthy eggs & chips


  • 500g potatoes, diced
  • 2 shallots, sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp dried crushed oregano or 1 tsp fresh leaves
  • 200g small mushrooms
  • 4 eggs


  1. Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Tip the potatoes and shallots into a large, non-stick roasting tin, drizzle with the oil, sprinkle over the oregano, then mix everything together well. Bake for bake for 40-45 mins (or until starting to go brown), add the mushrooms, then cook for a further 10 mins until the potatoes are browned and tender.
  2. Make four gaps in the vegetables and crack an egg into each space. Return to the oven for 3-4 mins or until the eggs are cooked to your liking.
