WHATEVER MAN by PETER PAN SPEEDROCK
When it comes to speedrock, (you know, that blistering, balls-out rock and roll that comes from bands like Motorhead and the such) it just seems to come better from a trio. Three dudes up there smashing your face with their ferocious brand of Chuck-Berry-on-speed, no thrills rock and roll. An old band of mine had the pleasure to do a few weekends with Speedealer back in the
early 2000s, and those maniacs were a trio – each smasher holding court with his own instrument, fighting off all naysayers. I clearly remember them being wee lads, but Jesus fuck they were intimidating with that music. You sweat just listening to it.
Well, rockandrolljunkie.com has had the pleasure to work with another powerhouse of this genre, Peter Pan Speedrock. Bassist Bart Geevers has graciously offered his services as guest curator for this here SongoftheDay feature all week, and sweet bowel quaking he gave us some friggin’ amazing gems. Make sure to catch these guys when they leave their native Netherlands for a jaunt across the pond to the U.S. of EH for a ruckus tour with Nick Oliveri’s Mondo Generator. Here’s a great tune from their latest effort on Self Destructo Records. Thanks Bart, and fuckin’ right! – FATS
(Bart Geevers plays bass with the blistering, bowel quaking Dutch masters of motor-riffing, Peter Pan Speedrock. Formed almost 20 years ago, these ferocious smashers will be invading the U.S.A this fall with pals Mondo Generator. Check to the sky for the scorching fire left in their wake. We are super stoked to have Bart guest curate this week’s helping of SongoftheDay. Click HERE for more info about this fantastic band and where you can see them live.)
