(This looks like it will be a smashy good time! In an upcoming episode of the rockandrolljunkie podcast, True Rivals sit down with Dan to talk about the inner workings of a mid-level act touring endlessly throughout the year. Well, when you’re doing gigs with bands like Dead Kennedys. Naked Raygun, and The Sonics, you know you’re doing something right. Oh, California, why do you get all the good gigs? Maybe it’s the sun, or the ocean. And hey, this shit only costs $30 or $55 for VIP treatment. Awesome. – FATS)
Brace yourself Long Beach, California because on September 26, 2015, the hooligans are taking over. That’s right, it’s an assault that will make the Invasion of Normandy look like a practice run by comparison as the heroes of hysteria, the legends of loud, the champions of hard core, and the prizefighters of punk take Rainbow Lagoon Park by storm and declare a state of Marshall Amp Law for the first annual Hi-Fi Rockfest!
This is the big bad party that rolls into town in a glossy black 1967 Chevy Impala (sans muffler) and steals your best girl without even trying because she now sees what cool really is! We’re talking bands like Dead Kennedys, Street Dogs, Naked Raygun, The Sonics, Richie Ramone, Luicidal, Dirty Filthy Mugs, Year Of The Dragon, True Rivals, Downtown Brown and The Two Tens. Yeah, it’s going to be that epic.
Rainbow Lagoon Park is a traditional Japanese style open space that is so bangin’ it’s got the freakin’ Pacific Ocean as its backdrop. The three gently arced rainbow bridges that connect the two islands of the park serve as beautiful accents to the already picturesque saltwater lagoon while the surrounding turf and bordering trees help imbue this getaway oasis with a charming, secluded vibe.
Besides the wonderfully raucous music, the all-ages, all-day celebration will have food trucks and a variety of concession tents offering gourmet, vegan, and junk food options. There will be two full bars on the grounds pouring beer and wine as well as crafting cocktails and dispensing liquor to age-appropriate customers.
On the day of the festival, gates will open at 11:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale. General admission is $30 while the VIP package is only $55. According to Eventbrite’s website, VIP passes allow patrons “full access to the Hi-Fi VIP area featuring a private bar, shaded area with tables and chairs near the stage, private air-conditioned restrooms, and unlimited ‘Baller’ status.” All tickets to the first annual Hi-Fi Rockfest can be purchased through www.eventbrite.com.
The Hi-Fi Rockfest is an all-weather event with no refunds, exchanges, or cancellations. While fun is encouraged, no “spikes or sharp objects, cans, bottles, outside alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages, outside food, or weapons (with or without a permit)” will be permitted through the event gates.
