SongoftheDay: POISON WHIPTAIL by MOKOMOKAI
There has been a resurgence of great metal of late. It had been a good while since anyone outside of the true diehard fans would have anything to do with this louder than leather genre of rock and roll. Well, it’s back with a vengeance. More and more clubs are hosting metal lineups, and the crowds are piling back in for some good bowel quaking rock. Even the ladies are lovin’ the metal. That’s awesome.
Lying in wait, poised for attack, Canadian metalheads Mokomokai have pounced, laying waste to bowels across North America and Europe. This small-town power trio blasts the doors off venues, sounding more like a small army than a three-piece. Leading the charge is guitarist and vocalist John Ellis, our guest this week on the podcast. As we are celebrating the talent of the operatic vocal styles in metal, it seems only fitting to start the week off with this track from Mokomokai. I’ve had the pleasure to share the stage with this band, and fancy myself a bit of a screamer with a microphone, but in now way do I have the pipes of John Ellis. Well done sir, well done. – FATS
