REPLAY Podcast Episode XVII: SAL CANZONIERI of ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN

(So fucking heavy.  If loud, violent rock and roll is what you need.  If big riffs and hook vocals is what you crave, then Electric Frankenstein is all you need.  Turn that shit as loud as you can and fuck anyone who doesn’t like it.  Guitarist and founder Sal Canzonieri is much more than simply a guy in a band.  That dude has gumption.  He took everything from the experience of being in a great band and turned into multiple avenues to express his art.  REPLAY our discussion with Sal and find out what makes this dude tick.  Now, coming next on the podcast is an equally ambitious musician.  Eric Davidson is not only the vocalist for one of the elite punk/rock’nroll bands the New Bomb Turks, but he’s also an accomplished writer.  He and Dan talk about everything from touring all over the world to being a freelance writer to being the managing editor of the website for CMJ.  Eric is a true savage of rock, and this interview must not be missed.  Also, the plot thickens in the world of Ripper.  Find out what happens next when the podcast resumes this coming Monday.  Fuck yeah! – FATS)

ORIGINALLY AIRED ON MONDAY, MARCH 23, 2015

sal1I can remember the first time I listened to Electric Frankenstein; I think my old pal Geoff played them for me.  All I could think was, ‘holy fuck this sounds like a violent, punk rock version of AC/DC.’  And the artwork on their albums; I fucking love monster art.  They came through town and smashed our faces at the Tavern, and have never left my mind as one of the best, heaviest, and most fun bands I’d seen in a long while.  Well, we have the man himself.  Electric Frankenstein‘s founder and guitarist of Sal Canzonieri is on the podcast this week.  Dan and Sal give the wink-wink-nudge-nudge about everything from touring, publishing books that end up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, love of martial arts, supporting other artists, and a hate for a certain record label.  They even talk about some of Sal’s favorite foods and the stereotyping that happened on The Sopranos, as Sal comes right out of the neighbourhood the show was based on.  I didn’t know much about Sal before the show, but have a new level of respect for his ‘get-up-and-go’ attitude.  Also, much of the crew is back from the retreat and back being fucking idiots.  Enjoy.
