I sure do love me some Kermit Ruffins.  This New Orleans’ fixture sadly had to close down his restaurant Speakeasy last year, but has been working hard at keeping the infamous Mother-In-Law Lounge alive and well.  Ruffins has stated that he would much rather open up, serve some booze, book some music, play some music, and not have to worry about the cooking.  Fair enough.  I’d love to hear him play in a small venue like that.  Well, he is out on the road right now, and if you can’t see the best jazz in the world in New Orleans, you might as well see it in NYC.  Kermitt is doing 4 nights at the legendary Blue Note starting tonight, Thursday, February 19 through Sunday, February 22.  I have no idea what the ticket situation is, but if you haven’t got one, you best get working on that if you want to go.  This one will be a scorcher.
